An A-List affair goes sour

Toronto’s media insiders know what we’re talking about. An A-list Hollywood celeb known for rom-coms and a local media maven have been getting down and dirty on the down-low, hitching up whenever they’re both in the same city. Well, looks like that’s not happening anymore. At a recent party, the unhitched actor had a little too much to drink and left with another lady on his arm. And not just any lady – a lower-down media girl just trying to cut her teeth in the biz. It surprised no one when, the next morning, the jilted media powerhouse had the ladder-climbing little lady fired. Our question: was he worth it?

Rachel McAdams is always a (stunning) bridesmaid

Maybe an American actress wouldn’t have done it, but our Canadian girl Rachel McAdams skipped promoting her new boxing drama Southpaw in Cannes last weekend to attend her sister Kayleen’s wedding in Muskoka – as a member of the bridal party, no less. Anyone who’s had multiple McAdams sightings around Toronto – from riding her bike on Queen West to chilling at Sneaky Dee’s – knows how diehard local she truly is. We bet she even stopped at Webers en route. Ryan Gosling, why’d you ever mess this up?

Blind Item: A Canadian publication invading the USA?

This Canadian publication is about to make a big push stateside to attract a huge American readership via both newsstand sales and subscriptions. It already has an American presence, having been featured on prominent American websites, but can it actually hack it with the Conde Nast crew when it makes a real attempt to be relevant to Americans? The team behind it certainly thinks they’ve got what it takes to make an A-list publication. Let’s just say September will be an interesting month.

Guess whose #belfie this is

If 2014 was the Year of the Ass, then 2015 is the Year of the #Belfie, with everyone from A-listers to to everyday people getting self-obsessed with their own backsides. You’ve got three guesses as to who posted this butt shot on Instagram. Nope, it’s not Kendall Jenner. Not Megan Fox. If you guessed Rumer Willis, who’s confidence – fresh off a win on Dancing With The Stars – is soaring, you’re right.

While we anxiously await to see what Rumer does next with her sudden surge in popularity (she used to be the “butt” of many a cruel joke about celeb offspring), she’s clearly enjoying the attention, posting along with the pic: “#Dance does a #body good. Real good. Happy #memorialday from @ruelarue to all of you #YoureWelcome.”

Lena strips down because she loves her … brain?

Lena Dunham celebrated her freedom to show off her skin on Memorial Day by posting an Instagram pic of herself wearing a bra and panty set by New Zealand lingerie company Lonely Lingerie. “Love my lonely lingerie and I think I will wear it to dinner with some boots and a smile because we are all very lucky to be free,” says the tagline.

The 31-year-old comedienne recently started a fitness program with celebrity personal trainer Tracey Anderson, but Dunham – who openly struggles with mental illnesses – claims it’s more about mental health than physical appearance. The caption to a photo of the star in a sports bra last month reads: “To those struggling with anxiety, OCD, depression: I know it’s mad annoying when people tell you to exercise, and it took me about 16 medicated years to listen. I’m glad I did. It ain’t about the ass, it’s about the brain.”

Either way Lena, your brain looks great in that lingerie.

Blind item: Iconic actress/supermodel with a lesbian past

It’s hard to believe anyone can keep anything on the down-low in the social media era, but this big-name actress/supermodel still manages to maintain a rather wholesome public image – now with a family of her own – despite having a longterm on-again, off-again lesbian love affair with a Canadian media personality in her past. Ooh la la.

The Batmobile makes a Toronto debut

The new Batmobile was finally spotted on the Toronto set of Suicide Squad Monday night. The new Batmobile will make its debut in Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice first, but the sighting was epic for comic book fans. Although Ben Affleck has yet to surface in the 6ix, footage of the Batmobile (seen chasing The Joker’s sportscar) went viral, meaning scenes of Batman – be he Ben or a stunt-double – are finally shooting.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers issues public apology
Juice factor: 8/10

Well-known alcoholic Jonathan Rhys Meyers issued a public apology this week after shots of the actor drunk with a vodka bottle in hand emerged earlier this month. Meyers used his fianceé Mara Lane’s Instagram account to issue a statement yesterday: “Mara and I are thankful for your support and kindness during this time. I apologizes [sic] for having a minor relapse and hope that people don’t think too badly of me.”

Kendall Jenner’s 30-year-old rumoured love interest

Maybe Kendall and the Biebs aren’t meant to be, but we were as surprised as anyone to learn that Kendall Jenner spent Memorial Day weekend on a yacht in Monaco with racing champ Lewis Hamilton, 11 years her senior… and at least a few inches her junior, we might add.

Rumours of a romance between Kendall and Lewis ran wild after the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star was spotted wearing his gold chain over the weekend and very little else. To be specific, the supermodel/reality star wore a itsy-bitsy snakeskin bikini to go out to sea with the racecar driver. The duo was joined by celebutante friends 19-year-old Gigi Hadid and her sister 18-year-old sister Bella, as well as 18-year-old Hailey Baldwin, all bikini clad. Well, at least they’re all legal.

Apparently momager Kris Jenner is pushing for the Lewis-Kendall love affair to blossom. We can only imagine what his ex-girlfriend, 36-year-old  Nicole Scherzinger, is thinking.

Kim Kardashian inspires new law in California
Juice factor: 7/10

Kim Kardashian is a muse to many – Kanye, Google image searches, aspiring Instagram stars – but who knew she’d ever have American laws written in her honour? Well, honour is a strong word. A new California law increasing fines to $5,000 for anyone who hosts a large event without a permit, inspired by Kim’s wedding to Kris Humphries at the Montecito home of Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt, is a little late, to be honest. Schmidt got a mere $100 fine for disrupting the peace, and Kim’s already moved onto Kanye.
