Flare Gets Flack For Jian Ghomeshi Fashion Story

Canadian fashion magazine Flare is sorry if you took offense to their online article about Jian Ghomeshi’s court style, but they’re not taking it down. In an article initially called “Decoding the Courthouse Style of Jian Ghomeshi” published last Thursday, writer Flannery Dean talked to an image consultant and a criminal defence lawyer to help analyze Ghomeshi’s style choices for his court appearance on Wednesday. Given that Ghomeshi is charged with four counts of sexual assault and one count of “overcome resistance – choking,” many outraged readers took to the article’s comment section and Twitter to express their disgust for Flare’s light-hearted fashion coverage of the high-profile trial. We’ve heard rumours that Flare’s trying to go in an edgier direction than the magazine is currently known for, and this is definitely the way to jump right in the deep end of controversy.

Kim Kardashian Does A New Kind Of Nude

In other clothing-related news, Kim Kardashian actually wore clothes this week to meet American troops in Abu Dhabi as a way to remind the people that she’s more than just a nude behind. We’re guessing the form-fitting nude-coloured bodysuit was meant to be a reminder to the US navy why they love her in the first place. Kim and the troops can clearly agree on their shared view that everyone in America has a right to bare boobs. Meanwhile, Kourtney Kardashian posed naked for Dujuor Magazine this week and no one cared.
America Gets Zero Stars

Globe and Mail food critic Chris Nuttall-Smith’s review of America Restaurant in the Trump Tower caused quite the stir among local foodies over the weekend. His zero-star rating of the restaurant had nothing to do with the food — which he loved — but was the result of the service (which he found poor) and the crowd (which he found drunk, loud, and flashy). Zero stars is a little harsh, especially since he’s given 3.5 out of 4 stars to restaurants like Actinolite, which have their own type of pretentious crowd that’s not necessarily palatable to everyone. Nuttall-Smith’s critique more than just polarized readers; it left us wondering if he’s had a failed career as a short story author and is taking it out in his food reviews.
Spotted: Mark Cuban Partying With The Ladies

Speaking of America (apparently it’s good enough for this billionaire), Mark Cuban was spotted there on Thursday night at a fashion event hosted by Kleen Media and Baffi Collection, talking up ladies who clearly didn’t mind that he was dressed in his usual frumpy casual garb. We guess when you can wipe your sweaty forehead with $100 bills, it doesn’t matter how wrinkled your clothes are.

Adele has allegedly turned to hypnotherapy in an attempt to quit smoking and save her vocal chords, which needed surgery back in 2011. She’s not the only celeb who’s made headlines this week due to a nasty habit. In Touch Magazine published exclusive photos of Angelina Jolie smoking a cigarette in Sydney, Australia last week, despite the Oscar-winning actress’s choice to have a mastectomy as a preventative measure against cancer. In Touch also published photos of what looked like a heated argument between Angie and new hubbie Brad Pitt on a balcony, allegedly caused by Jolie’s choice to pick up a health-damaging vice.

Canadian model, America’s Next Top Model contestant, Vitiligo spokeswoman, and Toronto native Chantelle Young-Brown, aka Winnie Harlow, landed her first magazine cover for the debut issue of Toronto-based publication Nord Magazine. After appearing in the fall/winter campaign for Desigual and just recently landing a featured role in an Eminem video, Young-Brown is proof that appearing on Tyra Banks’ reality show won’t destroy any hope a model has of having a successful career in the fashion industry.
Harry Styles’ Awkward Run-in With Exes

Harry Styles ran into two of his exes at Monday night’s British Fashion Awards in London when Kendall Jenner and Cara Delevingne arrived at the awards show together. We’re guessing this is a fairly common “Harry” situation that the One Direction star has gotten used to over his short but high-profile romantic career.
