PiDGiN’s well-known Vancouver chef/owner goes MIA
Juice factor: 10/10
PiDGiN’s Makoto Ono has flown the coop and it seems the word is NOT out on the street. Since before the holidays, one of Vancouver’s top chefs has kept his departure very quiet, as has his former partner, Brandon Grossutti, who continues to run the popular eatery with his kitchen staff. Apparently nobody is talking about it and nobody knows what happened. We will be keeping an eye out for the chef that will be replacing him and will let you know first who it is.
Irina Shayk clearly looking for new boyfriend (and the missing half of her dress)
Juice factor: 8/10
If you thought Rita Ora’s Vanity Fair Oscars after-party dress was too revealing, you’d best stop reading here. Cristiano Ronaldo’s ex Irina Shayk, a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition model, certainly made a point of shaking her money-maker in a black dress that showed off everything from side boob to inner thigh. Wowza. We did our annual fashion report for the designer dud-dense event — Oscars 2015 Best & Worst Dressed List — but we’re thinking of starting an “Oscars Barely Dressed List” for 2016 because clearly this is a trend.

TOM* leaves Toronto fashionistas standing outside
Juice Factor: 7/10
It was Rio de Janeiro up in TOM* last night when GQ Brasil hosted a private party celebrating year two of Toronto Men’s Fashion Week. As samba dancers shook their toochies through the tiny space though, we reckon that “private” should’ve been removed from the invitation as some of Toronto’s VIPs were left standing at the door watching everyone, their mother and grandmother drink and dance the night away. Don’t you know TOM*? Never leave a fashionista standing at the door… #amateur
Uh, it isn’t hard to hook up with Jared Leto
Juice factor: 10/10
While Jezebel’s busy revealing that they have sources close to Lupita Nyong’o who claim the Oscar-winning actress is interested in possibly becoming more than friends with fellow Oscar winner Jared Leto (as if the age of chivalry was still a thing), we were busy thinking, “Doesn’t everybody know someone who’s hooked up with Jared Leto?” We do. And said person isn’t even an Oscar winner… or an actor… or even famous.

Shout Out: Toronto bombshell snaps up new job as E! news anchor
Juice Factor: 8/10
It’s true we haven’t seen much of Aliya-Jasmine Sovani for a while — unless you’re on Instagram drooling over her sunny LA pics — but if you tune into E! later today, you will be seeing a lot more of this Canadian beauty! As of yesterday the lovely Toronto native is reporting on all things gossip for the Kardashian loving network.
Scream Queens = American Horror Story 2.0
Juice factor: 7/10
If the massively under-watched Academy Awards of 2015 were any indication of anything, it’s that TV is definitely the new film. More proof? The growing star-studded cast of Ryan Murphy’s upcoming horror-comedy series, Scream Queens. Niecy Nash was just added to the incredible list of famous names already signed on the be a part of the soon-to-be epic TV series, including Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Roberts, Keke Palmer, Ariana Grande, Nick Jonas, Lea Michele, and True Blood‘s Joe Manganiello. Each season of the show will revolve around two female leads, and with an exhaustive search to fill the starring roles still ongoing despite the already impressive talent signed on, you can safely add this show to your must-watch list.
Speaking of TV, guess who’s back, back again…
Juice factor: 8/10
Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, the latest Pee-wee Herman movie starring controversial but nevertheless iconic Paul Reubens, and produced by none other than career and comeback maker Judd Apatow, will officially premiere on Netflix. As soon as it gets its official premiere date, we expect everyone to SCREAM REALLY LOUD!
Rihanna & Kanye West officially touring together (but we already told you that)
Juice factor: 8/10
We hinted a few weeks agao that rumours surrounding the possibility of a Rihanna and Kanye West co-headlined tour were more than just hearsay, and this week we can confirm that they are 100% true. Kanye is the executive producer of RiRi’s upcoming album, which led to a lot of speculation surrounding the possibility of the two icons hitting the road together, as well as their joint collab with former Beatle Paul McCartney on “FourFiveSeconds.” The power duo already have a date set for July 25 in Estonia, but stay tuned for tour dates at a stadium near you… unless you need an excuse to book a trip overseas.
The truth about the Canadian fashion industry stings
Juice factor: 9/10
Who’s actually working for free and who isn’t? And what exactly are designers and magazine editors doing that prevents Canada from being a credible international fashion scene? We’d tell you, but top male model Paul Mason, aka Fashion Santa, already told Vv Magazine’s Fashion Editor Philip Mak. Check out the shocking exclusive here (in honour of Toronto Men’s Fashion Week, aka TOM*FW, of course).

How will the Oscars recuperate from such a bad year?
Juice factor: 8/10
We already told you that the Oscars slipped drastically in the ratings, falling a staggering 16% in general and 18% in the 18-49 demographic. While the controversial mostly-white nominees list and lack of big “It” A-listers a la Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence in attendance being two of the reasons insiders claim the awards neglected to pull in a sizeable audience, that means the Academy is already scrambling to figure out how to rebound next year. The answer? With Leo and J-La, of course — at least according to our Hollywood insiders. Given that Leo is signed on to play the lead in Oscars 2015’s big winner Alejandro Gonzalez’ next film, The Revenan (a dark Western about a vengeful fur trapper, played by DiCaprio, who is left for dead by his hunting pals, played by Tom Hardy, Will Poulter, and Domhnall Gleeson), it looks like the Academy will strike back by possibly giving Hollywood’s biggest actor his first-ever Oscar. And to make it all the more watchable, Jennifer Lawrence will almost 100% be back in her third role in a David O. Russell film, Joy, which tells the story of a single mother who strikes it rich inventing the Miracle Mop. It’s co-written by Bridesmaids Oscar nominee Annie Mumolo, and co-stars Lawrence frequent collaborator and Academy golden boy Bradley Cooper. We’ll see you there next year then.
