Even a sexual assault arrest won’t keep this guy away
Juice Factor: 9/10
A couple of weeks ago, we (and everyone else) reported the very disturbing police announcement that Kleen Media partner Mark Holland was arrested for sexual assault. Was it shocking? Not really… as so many people have shared on social media. As predicted, Holland was released on bail and was back out on the streets of Toronto days after his arrest. But really, if you’ve been accused of sexual assault of a young girl, and your decade long partner announces he has resigned from your shared empire, is it a smart move to prance around the city flocked by girls who look 14 years old? Posing at Toronto Fashion Week flocked by models, showing up at nightclubs with girls who look like they’re still pubescent – smart? Not sure this will help his court case… happening on April 5th.
Jian Gomeshi wipes his hands clean of sexual assault cases
Juice factor: 10/10
If you’ve been following the Jian Ghomeshi case (which unless you live under a rock – you totally have,) you know that the former Q host has been in and out of the court for the past 6 weeks pleading not guilty to four counts of sexual assault and one count of choking. Women across Canada were disgusted when news broke of his Jekyll-Hyde behaviour and we’re going to bet they’re even more disgusted to learn that this man has been found not guilty of all charges. While Ghomeshi is wiping his hands clean of the assaults, we bet his less than squeaky clean image is going to stay with him forever… Good luck in the job hunt Ghomeshi.

Tonya Harding will be played by… Margot Robbie?!?
Juice factor: 7/10… but 9/10 for artistic merit, of course.
History might not remember disgraced American figure skater Tonya Harding kindly, but Hollywood is definitely doing it’s part to make sure the former ice queen is remembered beautifully. Blonde bombshell Margot Robbie will follow up her performances in the likes of Whiskey Tango Foxtrot and the upcoming Toronto-filmed Suicide Squad by playing Tonya in a biopic on the controversial competitive figure skater’s life who famously had rival Nancy Kerrigan attacked prior to the Olympics. We can’t wait to find out who’ll be playing Nancy.
Blind Item: Canadian magazine about to get a staff makeover?
Juice factor: 10/10
Anyone who works in the magazine industry is used to working in one of the most unstable business sectors out there today, but it’s not only bankruptcies and mergers that staff and editors have to worry about. Sometimes–particularly when it comes to trade publishing–an outside team of magazine creators makes a secret pitch to take over the creative and commercial helms of a magazine–under the assumption that they can better produce the content and up the profit margin in the process. Right now, a magazine that’s beloved in and outside of the borders of Canada seems to be sittin’ pretty, problem-free. The editor is so unaware that troubles might be brewing, in fact, that the team leader had no issue spending a good portion of the winter months on trips south of the border that can be written off as “work related.” That said, a superstar team of magazine creators is currently seriously discussing plans to pitch a takeover of the entire magazine. Turns out it’s not just the internet era journalists have to worry about when it comes to losing their jobs.
Batman v Superman red carpet cancelled
Juice factor: the show, apparently, must go on…
Despite the terrorist attacks that took place in Brussels yesterday, the London premiere of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice still went on. Warner Bros. said in a statement: “Our hearts go out to the victims of recent terrorist attacks, their families and the communities impacted around the world. Rather than yield to terror, we’ve decided to join the film’s fans and move forward with the London premiere of Batman v. Superman this evening.” The red carpet for the UK premiere of the movie, which stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, and Jesse Eisenberg, was nevertheless cancelled for safety reasons.
Selena Gomez messes with Texas
Juice factor: 8/10
If you wondered how former Disney star Selena Gomez managed recently to rack up more Instagram followers than the queen of gettin’ naked in the name of breaking the internet, Kim Kardashian, may we present Exhibit A: a video of Selena shaking her money-maker on a table in a Texas bar over the weekend. Apparently tequila was one of the ingredients that led to Gomez givin’ ‘er for onlookers while getting her party on in the Lone Star State.

Rachel Bilson reveals her guilty pleasure & ties to the past
Juice factor: 7/10
We never miss opportunity to revel in the realization that–say it with us now–stars, they’re just like us! Hayden Christensen’s longtime main squeeze Rachel Bilson took to Instagram on Monday night to share a picture of her Monday night reality show guilty pleasure on her TV screen–Dancing With The Stars. The hit show was in the midst of broadcasting the performance of Rachel’s former OC costar Mischa Barton who’s attempting to make a comeback after her highly publicized troubled years with DUIs, rumoured drug use, and weight gain after leaving The OC nearly a decade ago. “Got to give it up for @mischamazing takes balls. Get it guurrrrlll! ❤,” said Rachel, supporting her old friend and colleague, captioning the image. Although Mischa’s performance only gained the star and her dance partner a 16 out of 30, it was enough to keep her in the competition.
Donald Trump’s ex acts out… we mean, does the quick step
Juice factor: 6/10
Speaking of Dancing With The Stars, the reality show didn’t shy away from feeding off of Donald Trump’s current newsworthiness. The business mogul and reality TV star might be in the midst of a highly controversial historic fight for the Republican nomination, but his ex-wife Marla Maples is duking it out for her own glory as a contestant on DWTS. Her first dance wasn’t exactly subtle either, with Marla gettin’ her ballroom on doing the “quick step” to “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend,” landing her a score of 21 on 30. Marla will no doubt draw a lot of unwanted attention to Trump’s tabloid-ridden past, and the 52-year-old blonde beauty certainly played up her claim-to-fame in her introduction to viewers prior to her first dance. “People really do think of me as that girl who was married to Donald…” said Marla who claimed to be on the show to prove she’s more than just a famous ex-wife. In response to an off-camera question about the strangest thing she’s ever been asked, Marla answered, with a laugh, “I really get tired of those hair questions about Donald because I think, his hair’s FINE!” And you thought the American election couldn’t get any crazier.
Downton Abbey fans, rejoice–Julian Fellowes will return!
Juice factor: 8/10
Those of us who enjoy our tea with a heavy dose of old school manners and sensibilities don’t have to crumble like a crumpet now that Downton Abbey has left the building–or abbey–for good after six seasons on the BBC. Creator Julian Fellowes will be back, likely in 2017, with The Gilded Age. Set in turn-of-the-century New York, aka “the Gilded Age,” the new series will follow the founding powerplaying families of Manhattan–think the Rockefellers, the Carnegies, the Joneses–as well as Cora Crawley’s early life in the United States before marrying Robert and crossing the Atlantic to start a family of her own.
