Year Of The Bum: Kylie Jenner Steals Kim’s Bum’s Spotlight
Juice Factor: 8/10
Thanks to everyone from J-Lo, Nicki Minaj, and Beyonce to whoever coined the term “belfie,” 2014 has definitely been “The Year of the Bum.” Eat your heart out, boobs! We kid, but just when you thought Kim Kardashian’s Paper Magazine #BreakTheInternet cover was the final media frenzy in the year’s ongoing fascination with everything ass-related, her younger half-sister is getting in on the action. 17-year-old Kylie Jenner took to Instagram to prove that Kim isn’t the only member of the reality TV clan with a bootiful booty. Kylie posted her self-styled Instagram belfie with the caption “eat yo wheaties.” Earlier in the week, Kylie used social media to put to bed rumours that she’s pregnant with 25-year-old boyfriend Tyga’s baby (thanks to a paparazzi shot of her leaving a gyneocologist’s office last month going viral) with a single tweet: “[I’m] not trying to become a rapper, I’m not getting married, & I’m not pregnant…..” tweeted Kylie. Enough said. Well done, Kylie, well done.

Bloggers Throwing Shade At Vv Magazine
Juice Factor: 8/10
We found ourselves the subject of gossip last week when Vv Magazine writer Shannon Hunter’s feature story for us, “Buying Fake Followers: The Death of Blogging Culture?” caused a social media frenzy of its own. A few local Toronto bloggers, who thought the anonymous follower-buying bloggers described in story were them, took to the internet to throw serious shade at Vv for calling them out. Although we have word from the writer that she wasn’t referring to any of the online haters of the article, it’s hilarious what guilt will incite people to do – including accidentally outing themselves. Oops! In an interesting coincidence, everyone may have noticed a drop in Instagram followers late last week after the social media giant took action to filter spam accounts out of their system.
Uber Fights Back
Juice Factor: 8/10
We’ve got to give props to Toronto Life for doing an awesome, informative, and surprisingly hilarious interview with Uber Toronto general manager Ian Black about why Uber, and its sister company UberX, are globally and locally hated for their complete disregard of city rules and regulations. In response to writer Malcolm Johnston insisting that it’s “pretty cocky to waltz into a city, ignore the regulations, and then wait for the rules to adapt,” Black argued, “Another way to look at it is if you don’t bring in a new model, the old one will always exist. We see a lot of gaps that need to be fixed. We don’t think regulations are set in stone, never to change.” Our favourite part of the interview. When Black turns the spotlight on the cab companies so vehemently opposed to Uber and UberX: “Cab prices in Toronto are nearly double those in New York, and one and a half times most North American cities. It’s outrageous.” Read the full interview here.
Did Britney Spears Have Work Done?
Juice Factor: 9/10
Britney Spears is ready for her latest comeback, but did she have work done in her downtime? The singer is slated to be on the January/February 2015 issue of Women’s Health and, while BritBrit talks all about her new healthy lifestyle and fitness regime in the feature, we’re more concerned with the cover shot. We’re no experts on plastic surgery, but her face doesn’t seem to have the same angles as we’re used to seeing on Britney — particularly around her nose, which looks like it might have been thinned out. Thoughts? We know Photoshop can sometimes take touch ups a little too far, but this photo looks more young Vanna White than it does 2014 Britney Spears.

Naomi Campbell Strips Down For Agent Provocateur
Juice Factor: 7/10
40s really are the new 20s. Last week, Givenchy announced 45-year-old Julia Roberts as the fashion house’s spring/summer 2015 star, and Versace revealed images of the famed Italian label’s SS 15 campaign featuring 56-year-old Madonna. The trend continues this week, with 44-year-old supermodel Naomi Campbell landing two massive spring/summer 2015 campaigns. The first is for Burberry, which she’ll star in alongside next-gen supermodel Jourdan Dunn, but she’s also showing off some serious skin as the new face of famed British lingerie company Agent Provocateur. The underwear brand has made a name for itself running unapologetically sexed up ads, and we love that Naomi has gold handcuffs and bondage rope to tie in the Fifty Shades of Grey vibe of spring 2015. If you ask us, it’s just 50 shades of “hey gurl!” Kudos to the Agent Provocateur for making age 44 the new everything.
JoshuaDAVID Invades Toronto
Juice Factor: 5/10
Fashionistas, rejoice! JoshuaDAVID is finally in Toronto. Five years after its launch in Montreal, the women’s fashion hotspot is setting up a pop-up shop in the Atrium at Yonge and Dundas with their selection of killer labels like Alice + Olivia, DVF, Elie Tahari, Jenny Bird, Line, Mackage, Theory, and of course, the JoshuaDAVID label. As part of the grand opening, JoshuaDAVID is hosting a coat drive for the YWCA 1st Stop Woodlawn Shelter and will give any customer who brings in a second-hand outerwear donation to the drive an additional 15% off until January 31, 2015. Sure, you should want to give anyway, but a little perk never hurt anyone.
Shameful Confession: We Think Shiloh Jolie-Pitt Is Going To Be Drop-Dead Gorgeous & Cool
Juice Factor: 4/10
8-year-old Shiloh Jolie-Pitt hit the red carpet premiere of Unbroken with Daddy Brad Pitt and older brothers Pax and Maddox wearing a very androgynous full suit and tie of her own to roll with her crew in style. Is it too soon to make her our style icon? And we hate to be creeps, but are we the only ones who can’t help but notice that she’s clearly going to be one of the most beautiful offspring of all the power couple kids in the history of Hollywood?

Mitsou Takes Jay-Z & Beyonce To Court
Juice Factor: 7/10
Hungarian singer Monika Juhasz Miczura, who goes by the stage name Mitsou, is suing Jay-Z and Beyonce over the song “Drunk in Love,” which she claims includes an unauthorized sampling of her vocals. According to Mitsou, the opening hook of “Drunk in Love” borrows from a 1995 recording she did of a song called “Bajba, Bajba Pelem,” or as it’s apparently known in North America, “Gypsy Life on the Road.” The lawsuit, filed by Mitsou’s legal team on Friday, argues that not only was the original song heavily sampled, the Hungarian performer is also unhappy that Beyonce used it to “evoke foreign eroticism alongside the sexually intense lyrics performed by Beyoncé and Jay Z.” Yikes. We’ll wait for our beloved Canadian Mitsou to take issue with the Hungarian singer’s choice of stage name to see if there’s a domino effect here. But one thing’s clear: in the battle between “Babja, Babja Pelem” and “Drunk in Love,” the winner is clearly “Bye bye, mon cowboy.”
