Pop super-duo call it quits
Juice Factor: 8/10
What’s that sound? Is that a new Taylor Swift album we hear? Pop Princess, Taylor Swift and Scottish DJ/producer, Calvin Harris have called it quits after over a year of dating. To many’s dismay, there was no drama with this split. The duo took a cue from Gwenyth Paltrow and confirmed their conscious uncoupling the classy way… via the Internet. Calvin Harris sent a single tweet stating, “The only truth here is that a relationship came to an end & what remains is a huge amount of love and respect.” The tweet was then retweeted by Swift, showing their amicable unity. While rumours are already swirling about the two getting back together, we hate to say it, but we kind of hope things start to get nasty soon… Number one hits are never written about how happy you are that you’re still friends and we need a new party tune.
Blind Item: PR pro not so pro?
Juice Factor: 7/10
A certain PR pro – if we can call her that – has been struggling to find her footing in Toronto. The woman, who was once part of a semi-successful PR company, recently started up a new firm. While she’s managed to score a couple of big names as clients, things aren’t exactly unfolding the way she expected, with her first event being called a major disaster. Not only could she not control her staff – hello, it’s called a smoke break, not smoke day – she managed to piss off a number of major publications and influencers by getting them slapped with cease and desist letters for reasons so embarrassingly unprofessional, we don’t even want to get into it. It’s definitely poor form for this PR ‘pro’. Hopefully, she can get herself better organized before her clients and connections dump her for good.

Toronto resto nervous about competition
Juice Factor: 6/10
With the hope of not sounding overly cheesy, Toronto is so hot right now. Brands, people, neighbourhoods and restaurants in the 6ix are gaining worldwide recognition but that doesn’t mean success for everyone… In fact, it looks like it might be making some people scared. Our sources say that the Mink Mile restaurant, La Societe, is getting nervous about new establishments taking over their spotlight. They’ve planned a complete overhaul with a relaunch party slated for next Thursday. Along with new managers and menus, they’ve even got a new name. Say goodbye to La Societe Bistro and hello to La Societe Moderne. Stay tuned for more details…
Blind Item: Popular restaurateur/agency owner meets with Canadian fashion mogul
Juice Factor: 7/10
When great minds meet, amazing things happen and the word on the street is saying that the Joe Fresh and Club Monaco founder, Joe Mimran, was seen meeting with a popular Toronto-based restaurateur, creative agency, and clothing line owner. With so many projects on the go, said agency owner is slowly taking over Toronto and it looks like he’s enlisting the help of a major fashion mogul. Though we can’t say exactly what’s going down between the two, we’re thinking that Mimran, who’s also a host on Dragon’s Den, might be accepting fire pitches and taking his investments off camera. Time will only tell what these two have up their sleeve but if it’s anything like their last solo projects, it’s bound to be something big.

Meryl Streep throws some serious shade
Juice Factor: 6/10
Three-time Oscar winner, Meryl Streep, played the role of a lifetime earlier this week when she took on the part of Donald Trump at the 2016 Public Theater Gala in Manhattan. The actress was not only spot on with her padded oversized suit, bouffant and spray tan but hilarious in performing the song, Brush Up on your Shakespeare from the musical Kiss me Kate alongside Christine Baranski who dressed up as Hilary Clinton. The performance gained Streep well-deserved praise from The New York Times who stated Streep “did a more than credible version of the presumptive Republican nominee, down to the pursed lips and low-hanging belly. She got the braggadocio-inflected voice, too, even while singing.” You go, girl.
Blind Item: Toronto store owners battle over brands
Juice Factor: 4/10
And in this fight, it’s two-on-two. The owners of an Insta-famous Toronto boutique are going head-to-head with a popular pop-up boutique. What they’re fighting over? The exclusivity to a number of brands. While we normally wouldn’t consider this juicy, the hypocrisy from said Insta-famous boutique could not be ignored. The boutique is known for their empowering words of female-friendly and local support, though they’ve gone against everything they ‘stand for’ by going behind the pop-up boutique’s back by trying to ice-out the pop-up owners and demanding exclusivity to certain brands sold at both stores. What happened to females supporting females? We guess the words are only lived by when it comes to customers and cash.
