Now on to this week’s date…. Meet Shanny’s match:
After reviewing this week’s dating applicants, I felt Jasmine—36 and a dietician—would match well with Marvin, 37, who is an illustrator. Although their careers may be on opposite sides of the spectrum, this might make for good conversation. Jasmine, like most single women her age, is looking for a long-term relationship. Marvin says he wants something casual and leaves it up to chance.
Marvin is more concerned with a woman’s personality versus her overall physique, but mentions that he appreciates a curvy woman. His deal-breaker would be to get matched with someone who is boring and/or non-adventurous. Jasmine appreciates the clean- cut, boy-next-door look and likes a guy with a great sense of humour. Marvin mentions that he is the sober type and Jasmine is not into dating someone who drinks or parties too much. Both have been single for 1-2 years and are not avid daters.
I thought by pairing these two they will get the practice they need when it comes to dating and hopefully match up. Let’s see if Marvin will have the sense of humour that Jasmine is looking for, and whether Jasmine impresses him with her knowledge of health and wellness over dinner at The Good Son restaurant.

After interviewing both Jasmine and Marvin, Shannon’s expert opinion is…
Judging from the post-date feedback, it was clear that no sparks were flying during Marvin and Jasmine’s 3-hour date. Although the daters both enjoyed their meal at The Good Son, the company was a bit lacklustre and the chemistry was non-existent.
Jasmine was impressed with Marvin’s experiences as an artist, but unfortunately that wasn’t enough to get the juices flowing. Marvin felt they had little in common once they chatted and the date progressed on a friendship level rather than a romantic level. He did appreciate her direct, straightforward approach, which some may find to be a bit of a deal breaker. That being said, although this date was not a match, it was fun, interesting, sweet and honest, in the words of our daters.
We wish both Marvin and Jasmine all the best on future dates and are happy that they participated in this week’s Sex and the 6ix blind date experience.
