Now onto this week’s date…. Meet Shanny’s match:
I was super excited for this weeks Sex & the 6ix blind daters Courtland and Rachel to meet. Although there is a bit of an age gap, Rachel being an Architectural Designer might appreciate an older guy who can keep up with her intellectual ways.
Rachel tells us that she’s attracted to the clean-cut boy next door, which is Courtland with a tad of ruggedness. He describes himself as the creative artistic type, and so does she, another plus in the match. Rachel likes wine, and he’s an expert in the biz.

As far as relationship expectations, both daters were looking for something long-term. In their profiles they listed how they are adventurous, outdoorsy, enjoy live music and like dining out at the latest hotspot. One major personality trait that Rachel is looking for in a guy is a sense of humor so he is hopefully funny and make her laugh as much as possible. Courtland mentioned how he’s attracted to a “girl boss” type who is stylish and well put together. Based on the original photo we received from Rachel in her sexy dark eyewear, I felt she looked the part.
So now we leave it up to chance. Is Rachel the “girl boss” type? Will Courtland crack her up? Let’s see what happened when these two met at La Fonda on a hot summer night.
After interviewing both Courtland and Rachel, Shannon’s expert opinion is…
Based on the overall feedback, this date was interesting and a bit comical to say the least. We got to see what exactly turned these two off from one another. It seems the quirky conversation didn’t play well and a lack of “girl boss” made this date “average”. No real laughs were shared, which Rachel was hoping for and physically these two were opposite in height (not normally important, but was in this case). Although the date lasted three hours, there were no real sparks flying which landed them in the friend zone early on.
They may have matched on paper, but a successful blind date must include chemistry and a playful memorable connection. Keep in mind your overall appearance makes a good first impression but it’s your personality and character that leaves someone wanting more. It’s safe to say that these two will not be pursuing a second date but they did enjoy the experience and the free meal! The date ended with a peck on the cheek, and he politely walked her to her car, which showed a mutual respect for the other. Bravo!
