Sex & The 6ix is our new weekly Sunday dating column in collaboration with a dating expert and matchmaker. Every week watch two people get to know each other and predict if the relationship will bloom or if it looks like an epic fail. We send two people out to a hot spot to enjoy dinner on us and see if we can make a love connection!

Shannon Tebb, entrepreneur and creator of Shanny in the City, has worked as a Matchmaker and Dating Consultant since 2010. She has been featured on various radio shows, and offered her expert opinion for articles in the Huffington Post, The Star, Metro, Eligible TV, Oh So Cosmo, KISS 92.5, CBC Radio, and was the spokesperson for Zoosk.com.

Now onto this week’s date…. Meet Shanny’s match:

This week’s daters, Sandra and Richard, both have class and a bit of sass. Sandra, a Marketing Director, has been in the biz for quite sometime. Richard has built a reputation in the wine world and works as a Managing Partner for a wine agency.

Both are looking for long-term commitment, and have high expectations when it comes to dating. I felt Sandra was a great match for Richard as he stated that he’s attracted to a petite, fit and stylish woman who is adventurous. Sandra, a fiery redhead, states that she’s the “girl boss” type who likes an entrepreneur and ideas guy. I’m pretty sure that Sandra’s sex appeal will keep Richard on his toes and he will be intrigued by her overall presence.

Another reason for the match is these two are close in age, have experienced travel and seem to not be into any games when it comes to dating. After chatting with Richard, his sense of humour shone through. Sandra loves a guy who is funny with a great smile. His silver grey hair will also be a hit, I’m sure. Richard and Sandra both are masters when it comes to networking and mingling within a large crowd. Let’s see how they will do on a one-on-one Blind Date at the very cool Drake Hotel.

After interviewing both Sandra and Richard, Shannon’s expert opinion is…

After receiving the post-date feedback, I think there was an initial attraction between the two but as the date progressed it seemed more like a job interview and networking event rather then a hot date. It’s common that daters often talk about their careers, which is fine, but not worth mentioning more than once. Your date is more interested in learning about your hobbies, passions, what makes you tick, travel and the experiences you have had. It’s important to let your guard down, get creative with your conversation and really connect during the date. I think all the pooch talk was cute, but hard for Richard to relate to since he is not a dog owner himself.
