When it comes to Valentine’s Day, typically people are either lovers (compiling sweet gift baskets for their friends or partners the second the Christmas decorations come down) or haters (picketing outside Hallmark and trash talking Saint Valentine all over the Internet). I, myself, am one of those rare breeds that falls somewhere in the middle – not quite dedicated enough to purchase lavish gifts, but also not so unimpressed that I take to vandalizing Godiva (you never know… scorned lovers do some crazy sh*t).

For me, Valentine’s Day is, yes, just another day, but it’s also an excuse to be more mindful of our lovers. We all get so caught up with work, kids, deadlines, friends and family, money issues, moving, travelling, planning, and the list goes on. Valentine’s Day, in my world anyway, is a day to remember that it’s important to keep the spark alive in our relationships. That’s not to say that we shouldn’t attempt to preserve the romance on any other day, however, fortunately for us greeting card, flower, lingerie and chocolate companies do the service of reminding us of this very fact leading up to Valenine’s Day every February 14th.
Now, whatever you do or don’t do on Valentine’s is up to you. I’m clearly not going to list the number of romantic dates you could plan, or lecture those who grumble every time they see a glittery cupid. But I will say that one thing everyone will agree on hoping for on Valentine’s Day is sex, and what better (and easier) way to get engines revved up than with some libido-lovin’ text messages (aka sexts).
Get comfortable, slip your cell phone underneath your desk and, when in doubt, tell your concerned coworker you’re just feeling a little flushed or, “yes, I am just happy to see you.”
