Canadian film students, emerging filmmakers and passionate documentarians have just over one month left to submit their entries for the 2013 enRoute Film Festival. Collecting short films from across the nation, and now in its 7th year, the enRoute Film Festival will broadcast submissions to a large international audience on Air Canada’s enRoute in-flight entertainment system. With a submission deadline of May 31st, 2013, this is an exceptional opportunity for young Canadian students to broadcast their works to the world.
The films will also be screened theatrically in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver and judged by a jury of famed actors, directors, producers and writers. With the main objective being to support filmmaking in Canada, the contest is open to Canadian citizens or permanent residents who’ve attended a post-secondary film studies institution or received informal film studies training anywhere in the world as of September 2011 or later. Up for grabs for the Best Short Film will be a $5,000 cash prize courtesy of presenting sponsor Cineplex Entertainment. Other awards include Achievement in Direction, Achievement in Cinematography, Achievement in Animation and the second annual People’s Choice Award. All winners will receive an exciting new destination prize to a major international film festival courtesy of Air Canada.
