Growing up in Montreal, I am a true brunch lover. In my book, Sundays are meant for friends to enjoy a nice slow meal with a healthy Caesar or, in my case a glass of white wine. Montreal restaurants have been serving up delicious brunches for decades and they do it right. Since moving to Toronto four years ago, I found it difficult to find good brunch spots. Doesn’t necessarily need to be unique, but it needs to be GOOD. Recently I have found a lot more restaurants are doing brunch, which is great, but not always doing it well, which is not so great….
Insomnia Café on Bloor and Bathurst offers a traditional brunch menu, amazing drinks specials and after enjoying it a few weeks ago, I now know that they know what they’re doing. It is on point. Everything is fresh, cooked to perfection and portions are big. The potatoes are almost like crak…. Not sure what they put in them but YUM.
In this vlog, Sam (@SamMillarTO) and I enjoy brunch with 2 friends – we ordered all the staples: steak and eggs, bacon and eggs, eggs Benedict and sausage. Not only was it delicious, it was so affordable! Not to mention, they GET the term “Sunday Funday” offering up $5 Caesars that are not lacking in vodka. GREAT brunch spot – it was my first time there and now I know where to go when I’m craving brunch done right!
