Lindsay MacMillan opened Elle Hardware with her designer sister, Hilary MacMillan, back in 2010, and Toronto’s best-dressed trendsetters have been adding killer pieces to their looks ever since. We caught up with Lindsay to find out more…
Tell us a bit about yourself. What should people know?
I am a jewelry buyer and proud female entrepreneur. I co-own and manage Elle Hardware, the jewellery and accessories boutique my sister Hilary MacMillan and I opened in 2010. I am a passionate traveler, paddle boarder, and jewellery collector. I love everything from vintage to modern minimalist.

What are the biggest challenges and best rewards about what you do?
My biggest career challenge is finding balance. I take great pride in managing the success of our business, the happiness of our customers, and Elle Hardware’s position within the community. Balancing that responsibility with my personal life is what I call my “work in progress” challenge. My biggest career rewards are seeing a new collection I picked sell really well, watching my employees rise to the challenge, and seeing our customers have a great time at seasonal store events.
What are three things you can’t live without?
Family, Nars Lip Lacquer in Chelsea Girls, and Paris.

What’s your favourite restaurant?
I love Jacob’s Steakhouse. I have had so many incredible meals and special moments there with the people I love. The local Ontario steak selection is unreal and the scotch is delicious.

Who are your favourite go-to designers?
I love Robert Rodriguez apparel paired with one of our newer jewelry collections, Melanie Auld. I love these two designers together because they represent my ideal fashion marriage of leather, good construction and understated, affordable bling!
What products are always in your beauty bag?
I have been a long-time MAC user, so MAC Select Cover-Up in NW20 is a staple. I am also a liquid eye liner gal, so L’Oreal Lineur Intense Felt Tip Pen in Black Mica is a must. I love NARS in general, but you will always find on my person NARS Lip Lacquer in Chelsea Girls.
What style trends are you obsessed with right now?
Knuckle rings and anything with a tassel. I also am in love with the idea of stacking Cartier’s Love Bracelets… a girl can dream on that one!
What’s your favourite spa or service?
You can’t beat Stillwater Spa in the Hyatt for rest and relaxation. For manis and pedis, Melissa and Yuki at Tips Nail Bar are the best in the city hands down – yes, pun intended.
