If you know a thing or two about fashion weeks, you are well aware that the person in charge of deciding who sits where at the runway shows has one of the most challenging jobs out there. The lovely Michelle Easton, senior publicist at rock-it promotions, makes it look oh-so easy. Easton has been working her magic all week long at World MasterCard Fashion Week, juggling last minute requests and making VIPs, celebrity guests and media alike all feel welcome. She’s a champ and one of the reasons Toronto Fashion Week runs so smoothly. We caught up with Easton to find out more about her exciting career and life outside of the fashion tents…
Tell us a bit about yourself. What should people know?
I am a senior publicist at rock-it promotions, a boutique publicity firm. I have lived in Toronto for almost 10 years now. I am pretty much a girlie-girl. I have an awesome boyfriend, and the best lady friends. Oh, I also love anything to do with flowers – including floral printed fashion, art, etc.

What are the biggest challenges and best rewards about what you do?
I get to meet and work with wonderful people all the time – this is definitely my favourite part of being in PR. I also get to be a part of some of the coolest things happening in Toronto, and I get to work with amazing local, national and international companies and brands – so my work is often exciting and entertaining.
One of the biggest challenges I find is time; sometimes there is just not enough time to keep up with everything. A lot of things in the world of PR change so quickly and so often.
What are three things you can’t live without?
iPhone, lipstick and Red Bull (or wine, depends on the time of day).
Finish this sentence: I love Toronto because…
…it’s full of amazing arts, cultures and restaurant offerings. There is always something fun to do and something new to discover.

What’s your favourite restaurant?
I love Soho House Toronto. The food and cocktails are so good, and I really enjoy the decor and the vibe there.
What’s one of your favourite go-to designers?
Anything and everything from Bicyclette Boutique. I literally always want to buy and wear every single item in this store. They carry brands like Wildfox, Free People, Parker and Loren Hope.
What products are always in your beauty bag?
I always have Lancome Dual Finish powder, bright pink lipstick from Maybelline, and a shimmery eye shadow from Annabelle on-hand.
What style trends are you obsessed with right now?
I love wearing colour, so I definitely look forward to the pastel trend for Spring 2014.
What’s your favourite spa or service?
I go to Hammam Spa every few months for an hour massage and a steam – it’s divine!
