When winter feels like it’s never ending, and spring is nowhere in sight, Toronto Fashion Week brings the city some much needed inspiration and excitement. We saw everything from drama, to elegance and everything in between this season. Follow along as we recap our favourite looks from our favourite Canadian designers for F/W19.
Here’s Our Re-cap of the Hottest Looks at TFW F/W19
Day 1 brought us back to life with collections from MICHI, Wuxly Movement, David Dixon, and Mikhael Kale, among others. From killer workout attire to outstanding outwear, it was nothing short of fabulous. To start us off, MICHI’s collection displayed at Equinox Yorkville could not come at a better time. In the dead of winter, nothing makes us more excited to get fit than bright pops of colour and cool mesh cutouts.
Wuxly intends to keep us warm and stylish in the cold winter months with animal-free, quilted coats that will outstand any weather Toronto throws at us. Partnered with Osteoporosis Canada and armed with knowledge, David Dixon helps spread awareness of the disease with his unique collection featuring bubble wrap – a universal symbol of protection. And Mikhael Kale wows us again with his collection showcased in Parking Garage P2, highlighting pastels and polka dots for any season.

On Day 2, we checked out runways from Lesley Hampton, Zoran Dobric, and Rock ‘N Karma. We were moved by the message behind Hampton’s collection, choosing the colour red to represent and pay homage to the missing and murdered Indigenous women movement. Of Indigenous descent herself, it was only fitting for her to incorporate such a strong group of women into her runway show.
Some other trends spotted on the runway were embroidery and embellishments, fringe and sequins, and denim and decals fit for rock royalty.
The third and final day of TFW was awe-inspiring to say the least. Collections from Hilary Macmillan, Mani Jassal, Narces, and Christopher Bates made their way down the runway, bringing us ready-to-wear pieces that we’d rock in a second.

Hosted at the Royal Ontario Museum, all four shows were full of colour, detail, and on-trend looks. We can’t wait to add Hilary Macmillan’s show-stopper coats to our wardrobes, or float down the street in Mani Jassal’s ethereal South-Asian inspired ensembles. Narces brings the drama with a closing look for the ages and Christopher Bates ends the week off with cool classics that are perfect for anything from apres-ski to a chic business lunch.
