Just when we thought we couldn’t love Drake or The 6ix even more, we get the news that our TO homie Drake is working on opening a brand new entertainment venue in the heart of the city. Called ‘History‘, the venue will be on the smaller side and Drake says it’s reminiscent of the smaller venues he played at when he was just starting out in the industry.
“Some of my most memorable shows were playing smaller rooms like History,” Drake said in a press release. “I wanted to take those memories and what I learned to create an incredible experience for both the artists and the fans.”

Drake is partnering with Live Nation Canada on this new venture and it’s set to open its doors later this year. History will have a 2,500 person capacity and according to Live Nation Canada, it will offer a “versatile and intimate destination to perform and connect with fans in Toronto,”
“We saw an opportunity to bring Toronto a great new venue, and we have so much gratitude and respect for Drake teaming up with us to bring it to life in the best way possible,” said Michael Rapino, President and CEO, Live Nation Entertainment.
Wondering where it will be located? Wonder no more because history will be made in the east end of the city at 1663 Queen Street East which is just east of Coxwell. The venue has been under construction for the past three years and if everything goes according to plan, it will be finished by the summer.
