Whether you’re after stunning manicures, rejuvenating facials, or top-notch cosmetics, there’s no shortage of places to explore here in Toronto. One of the most popular global beauty brands can be found here too, The Body Shop. Founded in 1976 in England, the brand has a presence in 70+ countries including Canada, with multiple locations in The 6ix alone. And guess what? They’ve just unveiled a brand-new location, complete with a Changemaker’s Workshop.
About The Body Shop’s new location in Toronto
The brand’s newest store is located inside the Yorkdale Shopping Centre. It features a Changemaker’s Workshop to provide an immersive experience for customers.
“Our goal was to create a physical space that people truly want to be a part of. Whether learning about our incredible products and testing them through our sink experiences, or engaging in Changemaking through our Act station, a space dedicated to petition signing and advocacy, the Workshop retail experience is different, and people are noticing,” Hilary Lloyd, VP of Brand & Corporate Social Responsibility, said in a press release statement.

Something that’s unique to the Yorkdale location? There’s a custom piece of textile art designed by multidisciplinary Toronto-based artist, Laura Moore in the shop.
It has been made with The Body Shop materials, which were sourced across the brand’s Canadian employee collective and the previous store. The artwork has also been inspired by The Body Shop’s activism work in the country. The quilt has been formed to make a map of Toronto, with the different textiles joined together.
Some of the key features of the workshop stores:
- A central sink area where you can test products
- A gifting station to personalize gifts
- A refill station to fill the 300ml aluminum bottle with any 12 of the shower gels, shampoos, conditioners and hand washes
- A range of upcycled and reclaimed materials
- Sustainable countertops
- A dedicated ACT area for you to learn about and engage with community issues
The new location’s opening also coincided with the federal government’s announcement to prohibit cosmetic animal testing in the country. The act also prohibits the sale of cosmetics that are dependent on new animal testing data. This marks a significant win for animal rights activists and cosmetics lovers too.
The latest location for the Body Shop in Toronto is located at Yorkdale Shopping Centre, 3401 Dufferin Street. It’s now open and items are available for pick-up and delivery.
