It’s no secret that I love food. But when food comes aligned with a cause where you get to give back to the community – especially when it’s to FEED people – I LOVE food that much more. A couple of weeks ago I got a Facebook message from Cheryl Torrence, the Director of The Daily Bread Food Bank Catering Kitchen, inviting me to preview the Fall 2012 Nella Bella collection, which she was thrilled to be catering. How could I say no? Of course I called my best foodie buddy Adam Mazerall and asked, “In the mood for some fashion and food?”
So on Feb 23rd, the two of us ventured off to this fashion preview to cover the food being served. I did wonder if people would be eating…it’s the fashion world after all. To my surprise, everyone was noshing and loving what the Daily Bread Food Bank Catering Kitchen was serving. The Toronto fashionistas enjoyed Appleton Rum cocktails and a bite size menu that included beef wellington, beef brisket, smoked salmon quiches, Tandoori chicken skewers and more delicious delights. The Catering Kitchen takes so much pride in what they do and they deliver truly great food. But the best part is that after paying their overhead costs, the rest of the profit goes right back into The Daily Bread Food Bank. Honestly, is this not an amazing way to spend your money? Think of them next time you’re looking for a caterer…I promise you’ll feel much better about yourself ☺
The Nella Bella collection also impressed me – the designs were colourful, versatile and best of all, the entire collection is vegan. The event was fabulous and it was nice to see so many faces – a combination of old friends, new friends, all of whom are food and fashion lovers!
