The reliable upside to the sudden chill in the air is a slew of new fall fashion to explore. Fashion is still taking its cues from the ’70s with suede accents, fringe everywhere, and a palette of burnt orange and forest greens—although the ’80s influence is starting to creep in. Jumpsuits, culottes and blanket scarves are here to stay, but fashion has a new focus this season. From turtlenecks, to cutout sweaters, to the oh-so-unfortunately named turtleneck dickie, it’s all about the neck—covering it up that is.
The key with all of these trends is to start with what you’re comfortable with. According to celebrity stylist Cristina Ehrlich, you should “start with what your style is, and how you dress and what you know, and then just be open to inviting something a little bit different to sort of mix it up a little bit.”
Whether you’re into androgyny or head-to-toe ladylike looks, or maybe you’re eclectic to the bone, we’ve compiled some of the season’s hottest trends.
