There’s something unbelievably relaxing about sitting in a garden. Putting aside the Victorian lady-of-leisure vibe of it all—Kindle in hand and flouncy white hat shielding your eyes—it does the mind and body good to disconnect from city life and breathe in some flower-scented fresh air. The world’s best gardens go way beyond a sprinkle of roses, and so it’s no surprise that many of them are found attached to palaces of yore which are now, fortunately for us, open to the public (most for a fee, but you can’t really put a price on a moment of serenity).
