Pickleball paddles at the ready, Toronto! The YMCA of Greater Toronto is hosting a playoff this month, and it’s a smash hit waiting to happen. There will be a series of events and they welcome players of all skill levels, from seasoned veterans to curious newbies. It’s your chance to test your dinking and volleying skills in a fun, competitive environment, and maybe even make some new pickleball pals along the way.
Celebrating Pickleball in Toronto
In case you missed it, it’s PickleBall Month. According to the 2024 Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) Topline Participation Report, pickleball has been recorded to be the fastest-growing sport in America. It’s a popular one over here as well, with plenty of pickleball venues across Canada.

As part of honouring Pickleball Month in The 6ix, the YMCA of Greater Toronto is holding a series of events at several centres of the community. Along with games, there are also going to be instructional workshops and tournaments. And this is not just in Toronto but across the GTA.
“Pickleball is more than just a sport, it’s a way to bring communities together while promoting physical, mental, and social well-being. We see this at the YMCA of Greater Toronto every day, not just with pickleball, but all of our programs and services,” Heidi McLeod, General Manager, of Health and Fitness Programs, told View The VIBE.
“To celebrate Pickleball Month, we are hosting tournaments at our eleven Health & Fitness Centres across the GTA, to celebrate the growing popularity of pickleball and encourage everyone to participate and join in on the fun!”
