The Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) has announced the five culinary creations that will be inducted into the inaugural 2024 CNE Food Hall of Fame. These iconic food items have captivated taste buds and become beloved traditions at the annual fair. From deep-fried delights to sweet indulgences, these five culinary masterpieces have earned their place among the CNE’s most celebrated food offerings.

Tiny Tom Donuts
The CNE staple since 1960 continues to delight fairgoers with its conveyor belt of miniature donuts. The aroma of deep-fried dough and cinnamon fills the Food Building as thousands of donuts are churned out daily during the 18-day CNE.
Ice Cream Waffle
Some of you may know that this item has also been a staple at the exhibition for over 80 years! The first Ice Cream Waffle sandwich was served in 1940, out of the original Conklin booth in the Midway.

Pickle Pizza
The culinary sensation that burst onto the CNE scene in 2019, quickly gained a dedicated following. The item featured a dill-ranch sauce base, tangy pickles, and melted cheese, topped with a generous sprinkle of dill. It became one of the CNE’s best-selling food items that year.
Primo Spaghetti
The simple yet satisfying cup of spaghetti with tomato sauce at the Primo booth has remained a fan-favourite CNE tradition for over four decades. This nostalgic dish, originally offered at the budget-friendly price of 99 cents, continues to draw crowds despite a recent increase to $1.99.
Deep-Fried Butter
This culinary sensation made its debut at the CNE back in 2010. Vicky Skinkle’s Sweet Treats concession stand in the Midway perfected the recipe, deep-frying frozen butter in funnel cake batter for an indulgent treat.
To commemorate the inaugural year of the CNE Food Hall of Fame, Deep-Fried Butter is making a comeback. You can try it until September 2, or while supplies last, at the Deep Fried booth in the Food Building and Legend Dairy in the Midway.
