The long weekend is almost upon us, and even though summer doesn’t officially start for another month, for many of us it marks the honourary inauguration of the season. If you’re sticking around the city for Victoria Day, here are the best things to do in Toronto this May 2-4…
Catch the Fireworks
Canada’s Wonderland hosts an annual fireworks display around 10pm on the Sunday of the long weekend. Access to the show is included with admission to the park. For a free fireworks display, head to Ashbridges Bay Park on Monday evening. The show usually starts around 9:45pm and lasts for 15 minutes, but there’s plenty to do in the Beaches beforehand – and you’ll want to get there early to nab a good seat.

ArtFest
Visit the historic Distillery District for a celebration of 85 of the top artists and artisans from across Toronto. They’ll be displaying and selling their work along the area’s cobblestone lanes. You can look forward to pottery, glass, jewellery, paintings, wood turning, gourmet foods, live music and more.
Dundas West and Ossington Food Tour
Take a tour of west Toronto, sampling the best dining and drinking that Dundas West and Ossington have to offer. Over four hours you’ll do six tastings and learn why this has become one of the most popular neighbourhoods for the city’s foodies.
Toronto Comic Arts Festival
For something a bit quirky and off-the-wall, check out the Toronto Comic Arts Festival at the Toronto Reference Library. This week-long celebration of comics and graphic novels culminates on Saturday and Sunday with a two-day exhibition and vendor fair. You’ll be able to view work from hundreds of comic creators from around the world and enjoy readings, interviews, panels, workshops, gallery shows, art installations, and more.
