Animal content has become quite a phenomenon on TikTok giving us all the serotonin by means of huskies singing the song of their people, kittens stretching in an impossibly adorable way, and basically anything in between. But if you’ve been online at all over this past week, the newest animal phenomenon, affectionately known as Noodles the Pug, has likely taken over not only your screen time, but your life. If you (somehow) have no idea what I am talking about, let me explain.
I first came across Noodles the Pug and his owner, Jonathon, while scrolling my For You page last week. He starts his video by welcoming us all to yet another game of “No Bones”. Immediately confused, I continued watching. And well, just see for yourself:

Is it a Bones, or no Bones Day?
While Jonathon has been posting about Noodle on his TikTok page for just over a year now, the bones or no bones game has exploded over the past two weeks. The daily game helps us to decide what kind of day we are going to have: a bones, or no bones day.
When Noodle wakes up with bones, it’s cause for celebration. We are instantly uplifted with the knowledge it will be a day to indulge, treat ourselves, and strut the streets like we own them. On a no bones day… well, it’s a very different vibe. When Noodles wakes up with no bones, it’s our indication to go easy on ourselves that day.

The no Bones Phenomenon
As the popularity of Noodle and his daily game skyrocketed, hilarious duets and spin-off content has started to emerge on the platform. With any new TikTok trend, comes a new TikTok sound. Music creators on the platform have taken to re-wording some iconic tunes to show their love to Noodle the Pug.

Noodle the Pug Teaches us Tolerance
I’m not even slightly exaggerating when I say that Noodles the Pug has become a more reliable source than anything (horoscopes included) to determine the outcome of our day. And when you take a step back away from the cuteness and hilarity of it all, there’s really something to the concept of a no bones day.
As TikTok user Valerie points out, Noodle is an excellent example of someone living with chronic illness or mental health struggles, especially ones that the outside world can’t necessarily see visually. She points out that regardless if it’s a bones or no bones day, Noodle looks exactly the same on the outside, and we all accept his lack of bones with kindness and understanding.
