Toronto’s vibrant art scene is about to explode with colour as the Yorkville Murals Festival makes its grand return next weekend on August 24 & 25. This annual celebration of creativity transforms the neighbourhood into an open-air gallery, showcasing the talents of local and international artists. It’s being held with the second rendition of the theme No Empty Spaces, with lots of fun activities to look forward to.
Highlights of the Yorkville Murals Festival
New murals
- Dahae Song’s “BEING ONE” artwork at the Four Seasons Hotel, Yorkville
- Dalkhafine’s mural on a wall at Manulife Center
- Greg Mike’s painting on a wall in the 99 Yorkville Ave courtyard
- Ness Lee’s mural at Anndore House, along with an interactive area for visitors to draw on large plexiglass wall designed by the artist
Art in The TTC
Presented by W Hotels Toronto. A mirrored chandelier by artist Trever Wheatley and Cosmo Dean in the abandoned Lower Bay TTC Platform.
Bubble Mania: Inflatable Art Interventions

Blockbuster Block Party with Live Art
One of the anticipated parts about the festival every year is the block party. The free event is happening on the top floor of the 148 Cumberland Parkade with DJ Skratch Bastid and friends. There’ll be five artists at the party as well painting murals.
Street Festival Zone presented by Bloor Yorkville BIA
Another feature of the event is the festival zone. Here’s where you’ll find plenty of interactive installations, pop-up retail containers and yes, more amazing murals. Live dance and performances will be hosted too. The area between Bellair St and Hazelton Ave will be closed for vehicles and open to pedestrians on August 24 & 25 from 10am-7pm.
The Yorkville Murals Festival is taking place next weekend from 10am-10pm and it’s free to attend.
