The Italian cuisine game in Toronto is a strong one, with places that serve delicacies from different parts of Italy. I hope I don’t ever get asked which Italian restaurant in Toronto is my favourite, because I definitely wouldn’t be able to pick just one. Many of the neighbourhoods each have their own iconic ones and Regent Park’s going to get another. Cheers to a new addition!
Italian restaurant in Toronto
There’s quite a few things you can expect from the upcoming Café Zuzu. In terms of the F&B, there’s going to be Italian pastries, drinks and a bottle shop. But it could also be your next remote working location as well, as the café is set to have its own co-working spaces. It doesn’t stop there, because a neighbourhood restaurant is in the works too.
Janet Zuccarini is the one behind the wheels for the new concept. You might know the Canadian restaurateur from the hospitality group, Gusto 54, which looks after a string of well-known restaurants in the 6ix. These include Gusto 501, Gusto 101, Trattoria Nervosa, Azhar Kitchen + Bar, and Chubby’s Jamaican Kitchen.

The location for Café Zuzu is intended to be multifunctional. It will serve as the base of operations for Gusto 54’s catering. Two corner patios will also be hosted by the café. And for ice cream lovers, there’s a pop-up ice cream and gelato service available too. It will have flavours supplied by Lansdowne Cone, which is known for a bunch of creative flavours.
The exact opening date hasn’t been shared yet, but it’s expected to be sometime in fall this year. For updates, you can sign up online for Café Zuzu’s newsletter.
