The Chinese restaurant scene in Toronto is a rich and diverse one. There is a whole range of spots that specialize in variations of the cuisine. Some have been around for decades and have become staples in the culinary community. Now, one particular restaurant has closed its doors after nearly three decades and is opening a new location.
Rol San in Toronto
For the longest time, the restaurant’s home was at 323 Spadina Avenue. According to the Instagram post they shared, they will be opening their doors again at 388 Spadina Ave. Luckily, that’s not too far from its original outpost. The restaurant was a favourite among the community, particularly for its dim sum and dumplings offerings.
Last month, the restaurant had also been the recipient of several infractions from Toronto health inspectors. Since then however, they’ve been resolved and passed re-inspection.

“We were working on fixing these issues before the infractions, unfortunately due to supply chain issues the components needed to fix certain machines were not in stock,” the Rol San team informed View The VIBE. “Even when closing, we try to uphold and maintain the cleanliness and safety of the restaurant.”
The first half of the new Rol San location will be opening sometime next month. As for the second half, customers can look forward to a summer opening.
“We do not have a set date for the opening yet, as we are still completing renovations,” the team told View The VIBE. “We are aiming to open the first part of the new location by mid March. The new location will be about the same size and keeping to the aesthetic of the original location.”
