The battle against rising food costs across Canada is no secret. Everything from meat and produce to bakery items and packaged foods is all being subjected to an increase in prices. This has undoubtedly affected consumers’ shopping habits, from the amount of food purchased to the frequency in a week or a month. One of Toronto’s restaurants wants to help students and residents battle inflation with a giveaway.
About the initiative from Lasagna 2 Go
Lasagna 2 Go, which is owned and operated by Brian MacNeil, is planning to give away free lasagnas to help York University students and North York residents in the unified fight against the ongoing inflation rates.
“Given rising food costs, I want to ensure my prices remain affordable so that families can put food on the table. And since tuition for post-secondary schooling is very expensive, I’m hoping that university students in the area will benefit from this, too,” MacNeil said in a statement.

But the deals don’t stop there. Once the 100 lasagnas are distributed on September 9, those arriving after will get 50% off their lasagnas. Additionally, those attending York University are eligible for a 10% discount for the fall semester. All that’s needed is to show their ID card of the university.
The menu for Lasagna 2 Go includes both beef and veggie options. They come in different sizes including small, medium and family sizes. You can also get it as a meal with garlic bread or Caesar salad, along with a beverage. A Family Meal Deal for four is also available.
Along with the meat, the pastas also have five different types of cheeses blended in.
The restaurant will be having the free giveaway on September 9 from 12 pm-4 pm.
