If you’re a Momofuko Toronto regular, then you’ve surely heard the news that the restaurant will soon be packing up its knives and heading out from the city’s Shangri-La Hotel. According to an Instagram post shared by the Momofuko, the restaurant’s last date of operations is December 23 as they won’t be renewing the lease. But the space is already confirmed to house another Asian restaurant in Toronto, opening next year.
Mott 32 in Toronto
Mott 32, a global Cantonese restaurant, will be setting up base at the city’s University Avenue location. Owned by Xuan Mu, the restaurant currently has six locations worldwide, including Vancouver, Las Vegas, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok and Seoul. In addition to the Toronto location, it also has plans to open soon in Cebu and Dubai.
The brand first started in Hong Kong, with the name referring to 32 Mott Street in New York. The emphasis of the menu is Cantonese, with the team having acquired multiple awards for its Chinese cuisine.

The signature dishes you can expect to find at Mott 32 are the 2 Days Apple Wood Smoked Peking Duck and various dim sum that are prepared daily by hand. The menu also has rice, noodles, seafood items, soups and starters.
The official opening date for this Asian restaurant in Toronto has not been unveiled.
