When the phrase ‘a staple dish in Toronto’ is mentioned, I’m sure there are many that come to mind. Burgers, poutine, pizza…there’s quite a few. Another one that would probably make the list, is sandwiches. I mean, who doesn’t love a good ‘ole fashioned sandwich with soft bread that’s filled with meat, veggies and sauces? A type of comfort food, really. So it’s a good thing that there are loads of places in The 6ix to choose from, including TuckShop Kitchen. And now, the brand is set to open their newest location this year.

One look at the menu will tell you that they’re not joking around when it comes to the sandwich game. It’s not just sandwiches the restaurant dabbles in though, they’ve also got burgers and salads. Oven Roasted Chicken (with apple and cabbage slaw), BBQ Roast Beef Melt (with marinated kale, garlic butter) and the Tuck Clubhouse are some of the available options.
One of the menu specials is the Bacon ‘n Ranch Grilled Cheese. This comes with caramelized onions, kale and cheddar cheese. For sides, you can take your pick of fries, coleslaw or caesar salad.

As the name of the restaurant suggests, TuckShop is a small, cozy spot with its original location at 1640 Dupont Street. The interior is a warm and vibrant space, with almost a welcoming touch of whimsy with the colours. You can expect the second location of the sandwich shop in Toronto to be in Leslieville, though an exact date hasn’t been released.
