The 30th annual George Christy Luncheon at the Four Seasons Hotel took place on Saturday, September 7th, during TIFF 2013. Sadly, this will mark the last party in honour of the former society columnist for The Hollywood Reporter. Does that mean no more Christy chicken pot pie? Christy was notably one of the first journalists outside of Canada to start writing about the festival back in the ’70s in his column “The Great Life,” and there’s been an annual party in his honour since 1984. Apparently organizers of the event think it’s time to switch things up for future TIFFs and so the ongoing party went out with a bang this weekend, but obviously George Christy’s importance to TIFF lives on.
