There’s nothing quite as iconic in Canadian fashion as Hudson’s Bay. With a mind-boggling 300+ years of storied history behind it, the brand’s instantly recognizable coloured stripes have remained a fashionable signature, evident today on everything from beach towels to dog sweaters (not to mention draped across Helen Mirren’s shoulders; see the gallery below).
But Hudson’s Bay’s reach extends beyond Canuck borders—it’s considered North America’s oldest company, and in 2013, they acquired American retail giant Saks Fifth Avenue. So, what better way to welcome the stars to Toronto for TIFF 2015 than by having them strut on a Hudson’s Bay-branded carpet? Dubbed Stars on Stripes, it could easily be crowned the city’s main showcase of film festival fashion.
TIFF 2015 marked the fifth year of Hudson’s Bay’s Official Red Carpet Sponsorship (it was also the Official Fashion Retailer), and it offered up a striking backdrop for festival-goers and media alike to snap shots of their favourite celebrities. The carpets were located at three major festival locations (Roy Thomson Hall, Ryerson Theatre and the TIFF Bell Lightbox), and have served up some of the most striking (and fashionable) photos we’ve seen thus far.

“We are grateful to Hudson’s Bay for their ongoing support of the Festival,” said Cameron Bailey, artistic director of TIFF, in a press release before the start of the festival. “We look forward to celebrating our 40th Festival with this iconic Canadian brand and leader in the fashion world.”
Some of cinema’s biggest and most renowned walked the carpets, and the bold red served up a glamorous backdrop for the stars’ style. From Kate Winslet’s gorgeous grey Badgley Mischka dress, to Julianne Moore’s bespoke Helmut Lang jumpsuit, fashion certainly shone thanks to Hudson Bay’s Stars on Stripes.
