Tinder introduces Pride profile stickers for LGBTQ users and their allies

It’s Pride month, and various dating platforms are celebrating in unique ways. Grindr is embarking on a national bus tour called “Grindr Rides America,” Hinge has published its 2024 LGBTQIA+ D.A.T.E. Report, and Tinder has introduced five new Pride profile stickers. These stickers, designed by Tinder’s LGBTQ staff, help users and allies express their identities, show support, and connect. Originally launched last year, these stickers are back for 2024.

For many LGBTQIA individuals, dating apps have evolved beyond just finding partners; they have become places to explore identity and build community. Tinder’s 2023 Future of Dating Report revealed that over half of respondents (54 percent) came out on a dating app before telling friends or family. Many also reported experiencing increased fluidity in their sexuality and gender identity over the past three years.

These Pride stickers, particularly the “My First Pride” sticker, offer newcomers an easy way to join the community and proudly express their identity during Pride month.

Tinder’s Pride profile stickers:

1. My First Pride: Ideal for those attending Pride for the first time, this sticker helps newcomers find and celebrate with their community.
2. Came Out Online: This sticker serves as a badge of honor for those who have come out online and want to display their pride.
3. Save Queer Spaces: This sticker connects users with others dedicated to preserving important community spaces like bars, clubs, and centers.
4. Happy Pride: Suitable for both allies and LGBTQ community members, this sticker celebrates love, diversity, and the values of Pride.
5. Proud Ally: Designed for allies, this sticker shows support and solidarity with the LGBTQ community.

Tinder has been continuously rolling out features to make the app more inclusive for LGBTQ users and to ensure a safer space for everyone. Some of these features include:

1. Inclusive Pronouns: Offering over 15 pronoun options, Tinder allows users to pick up to four for their profile to express themselves authentically.
2. Traveler Alert: This feature alerts users when they enter a country with discriminatory laws or attitudes towards the LGBTQ community, allowing them to hide their profile for safety.
3. Gender Identity Options: With over 50 gender identities to choose from, Tinder ensures everyone can represent their true selves without limitations.
4. Block Contact: This feature allows users to block and report inappropriate or disrespectful behavior, maintaining a safer and more positive experience on the app.
