1. Miami
First up, what better place to spend your Florida vacation than on the beach? Miami is one of the more eccentric cities in all of America. It’s a center of commerce, fashion, celebrity, and entertainment, and has become an international destination for the elite of the world.

Just off the coast, Miami Beach is a great place to look at art-deco architecture, go shopping, and just bum around on the beach. This offshoot of Miami-proper is where you’ll spend most of your time lounging or surfing.
2. St. Augustine
St. Augustine has the distinction of being the oldest settlement in America. Founded in 1565 by Spanish conquistadors, St. Augustine is a great visit for the American history buff. If you like old buildings and older stories, this is the place for you.
Attractions include military forts, castles, beautiful nature trails, and warm beaches. Museums and old-world architecture can keep the explorers happy, while everyone else unwinds by the water.
3. The Keys
Visiting the Keys is like being on a different planet. The Florida Keys are located beyond the southern tip of Florida. There’s an average daily temperature of 25 degrees, so the outdoors enthusiast will have a great time fishing and boating between these tiny islands.

Each island provides something unique, but common themes include snorkeling and deep-sea diving, checking out crocs in the Everglades, and going on nature walks. If you’re down in Miami, make the trip down to the Keys, you won’t regret it.

4. Orlando
Orlando is mid-Florida’s prime destination with loads of theme parks and a seemingly endless array of outdoor shopping malls. It’s built for family vacations.
Take the kids on some rides at Universal Studios Florida, or the Islands of Adventure, or one of the many museums that Orlando boasts. The Kennedy Space Center is just a short drive over to the coast and has an incredibly informative tour that you and the kids will enjoy.

5. Disney World

It’s 19 million yearly visitors don’t lie, Disney World is one of the major attractions in all of the world. It’s certainly child-focused, but its a once-in-a-lifetime must for any child to visit Disney World.
If you’re without kids, you could leave this one out of your trip, but most people have a nostalgic memory of a Disney film and they do have some adult-focused attractions.
