Didn’t drink enough beer this summer? Well, even if you did, there’s plenty of reasons why you should drink some more at Toronto Beer Week (September 13th to 21st). TBW is a collective series of events spread out across some of the city’s sweetest venues and with beer from some seriously delicious distilleries. It is a celebration of all things brewskie and is dedicated to the beverage’s advancement, doing this through showcasing authentically brewed and flavourful beer, the talented brewers who create them, and the licensees who proudly support them.
There will be literally dozens of events, ranging from beer dinners (um, and hopefully breakfast and lunch too?), cask beer tastings, brewing demonstrations, homebrew contests and way more. Here are the 5 sudsy shindigs we can’t wait to check out at Toronto Beer Week…
The Indie Alehouse Homebrew Tap Takeover – September 17th, 5pm
Okay, so we haven’t drank moonshine since that one punk party in university that nobody remembers but this seems like a nice adult revival. Actually, this is nothing actually like that moonshine party nor is homebrew the Breaking Bad of beer, but rather an increasingly popular, refined, and dynamic art form where people get awards and, most importantly, make some amazingly delicious product. The Indie Alehouse will be handing over their taps to 12 of these masters of their craft for one night only and it promises to be an entirely new and awesome experience.

Third Annual Toronto Beer Week Pub Crawl – September 21st, 5:30pm
Another thing that we haven’t done nearly enough since college: pub crawls! The tipsy trek will be hitting up Clinton’s Tavern, Victory Cafe, Cloud and Dagger, and then to Stout Irish Pub for the after-party. Spend an hour and a half approximately at each watering hole, no admission cost, and Spearhead Beer will be had at a reduced price.
An Sibin Pub Beer Garden & BBQ – September 21st, 3pm
One of our fave Irish pubs, An Sibin, will be opening up their backyard (normally reserved for special events) for a one-night-only event of BBQ and craft beer amazingness. Craft brewers will be on hand pouring pints of one-off and collaboration beers that will leave you with some serious brew bragging rights.

The 11th Annual Golden Tap Awards @ beerbistro – September 18th, 6pm
Had she admitted that she had maybe one too many pints of delicious craft beer, perhaps Jennifer Lawrence’s tumble up the stairs at this year’s Oscars would have been even more endearing than it already was. Alas, we’ll never know. In any case, vote online for your fave breweries, bars, and beers in this, the Oscars of Ontario suds, and then come down to the gala event at beerbistro September 18th.
Hopera secundus @ Habits Gastropub – September 19th, 7pm
What’s better than a food and beer pairing? A food and opera pairing, obviously. We love trying new things and this is about as out of left field as it gets (while still being awesome). Hopera (lol, so clever) will be feature eight operatic arias, duos, and trios that will be paired with a sample of craft beer. This is definitely not your Italian grandma’s opera. And if it is, your grandma’s awesome.
