Last Thursday marked yet another year of Toronto Life highlighting Toronto’s most powerful people at their annual Toronto Life’s Most Influential party. Being one of Toronto’s 50 most influential is a very coveted honour, with 2014’s roster ruled by the political realm – no surprise, given the recent election. John Tory was named the number one most influential person in Toronto – would everyone agree? Likely not, however he does grace this month’s Toronto Life cover. Rumour has it that Editor-in-Chief Sarah Fulford had two different covers ready the night of the election, given that the issue was set to go to print the next day. Wonder what the other cover was…
Other honourees included: Jennifer Keesmaat of City Hall; Elaine Lui of Lainey Gossip and The Social; Matt Galloway of the CBC; George Stroumboulopoulos of Hockey Night in Canada; Sara Diamond of OCAD; Susur Lee, owner and chef of Lee, Bent, and Luckee; as well as Dave Sidhu of the Playa Cabana empire. The night also brought out Toronto’s society elite, media moguls, and fashionistas.
Guests nibbled on fancy hors d’oeuvres, and enjoyed a raw bar and carving station, while others preferred to stick to the flowing wine and cocktails.
