Carrie Bradshaw once said fashion could feed you. With Toronto being named the 8th best destination for shopaholics out of 25, being ‘fashion starved’ isn’t possible here. With all the shopping there is to do here, Carrie would approve.
Hey Discount, an online shop that provides discount codes, looked at the number of shopping locations and boutique stores and determined which cities are the best for those who love shopping.
Hey Discount’s goal was to find the best locations worldwide for those who love fashion and all things shopping.

The Methodology
Hey Discount wanted to find the best cities for shopping worldwide. Thus, they compiled a list of 25 locations using lists from CNN, Tropical Sky, The Travel, CN Traveler, CEO World, and Forbes. They then gave each location a normalized ‘shopping score out of 10’ for each factor, such as the number of shopping locations, number of fashion shops, shopping malls, and boutique stores within one mile and the number of top designer boutiques/retailers in the city. An average was then calculated based on each location’s score for each factor, which was used to create the ranking.
Tokyo took the #1 spot with a shopping score of 9/10, as a shopaholic can just about buy anything they could ever want there.
London came at #2 with a shopping score of 8/10. London is often known for its fashion, as it is dubbed one of the world’s best fashion cities of the world and thus makes London one of the most ideal places for shopping.
Paris comes in third place with a score of 7.43/10. Paris lives and breaths fashion, rightly so, from their fashion week to the exclusive fashion shows.

Other cities ahead of Toronto for the best destination for shopaholics in particular order are Singapore, Hong Kong, Sydney, New York, and Madrid.
Surprisingly New York was not in the top 5, and Milan was not in the top 10.

Fashion Forward
With Toronto coming in at #8, that doesn’t stop our momentum of being one of the best fashion-forward cities in the world. Just last summer, Toronto was ranked #4 for one of the most stylish cities in the world out of 20 and the #3 top city for décor inspiration in the world, with 787 Pinterest boards committed to the city’s fashion alone.
Toronto’s fashion scene continues to thrive and change, often catching the world’s attention. The styles and fashion presented here are frequently unmatched compared to most Canadian cities and some North American cities. Fifteen years ago Toronto was not considered a city of fashion. However, only time will tell, and that title will be ours at #1.

Anna Wintour says, “You either know fashion, or you don’t.” With Toronto coming in at #8, ahead of Milan at #11, one of the fashion cities of the world, I guess now we can say we don’t just know fashion, we are fashion.
