When it comes to Toronto’s F&B industry, we all know that there are many shining examples that make it an exemplary food scene. Most recently, one such restaurant was Minami Toronto. The Japanese restaurant saw multiple wins at the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards 2021.

Minami Toronto
It won two awards; 2021 Winner/Americas – Regional Restaurant and 2021 Winner/Americas – Multiples. The awards were received at the virtual ceremony, which was held on October 14, 2021. The panel of judges featured 45 leading figures in design, architecture and hospitality.

Situated at Entertainment District, Minami was launched during the course of the pandemic while indoor dining was still restricted. The team behind the restaurant is Aburi Restaurants Canada, which also other names under its belt including a Minami outpost in Vancouver, Miku, Gyoza Bar and more.
As for the award-winning space itself, it was designed in close collaboration with DesignAgency. The interior and ambience comprises of red and orange painted fabric sheets, plush leather booths and arched backlit screens. The feature wall is also adorned with a collection of mural art by Japanese painter, Hideki Kimura.
