In an ongoing effort to raise awareness and fund research into juvenile diabetes, Paramount Fine Foods has teamed up with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF). Just in time for Nutrition Month, designated by Dietitians of Canada, Paramount will be adding four low-calorie options to their menus in locations across Southern Ontario. Keeping affordability in mind, these sub-600 calorie dishes are all priced under $10, and 25% of their sale will go directly towards funding the JDRF and their research into type 1 diabetes.
“Paramount was excited to provide the City of Toronto with the Nutrition Week menu items,” says Chef Ibrahim Gorban. “Having the opportunity to give back to a reputable charity such as the JDRF is an added bonus.”

Using World Health Organization standards, StatsCan reported that nearly 31.5% of Canadian children aged 5-17 were classified as obese in 2009 to 2011. With facts as disturbing as these, it’s imperative that food vendors make a conscientious effort to provide healthy and delicious options for parents and children to enjoy. If you’re looking for some fresh, affordable Middle Eastern options for the family, you can pick them up at one of Paramount’s four locations (Toronto, Thornhill, Mississauga, London).
