With summer coming up (seriously it’s coming) it’s time to start thinking about a more serious puppy grooming schedule – especially for those of us with long haired pups. So where should you go to get your pup coiffed, pampered, and primped? Here are our picks for the top doggy spas in Toronto…
SPAW Boutique
This King West doggy spaw (get it?) has been a King West feature for 8 years. Sitting right across from Stanley Park, SPAW has one of the more convenient locations for the discerning downtown dog owner. The best part about SPAW isn’t their excellent groomers or the fact that they are close to home, it’s that they offer free-range (no crates) day care for all grooming clients. If you’re in the ‘hood they’ll also pick up and drop off your pup for a $6 fee.

Pet Social
Pet Social’s boutique on Fort York Blvd. is the perfect place to get your pup groomed, pick up a new toy, or buy them a special treat. But it’s their new location at Bathurst and Lakeshore that gets them a special mention here. The brand new facility features a full doggy daycare, an expanded grooming facility, and a large retail space. Owner and operator of both locations, Suzanne Singh, is knowledgeable, kind, and a constant supporter of animal rights. If I had to leave my pups with anyone for an extended period of time I would want it to be Suzanne.
Cosmopawlitan Pet Boutique & Spa
The Cosmopawlitan. Ah, there are a lot of puns in this industry! This spot offers a full grooming facility and lets pets stay for those people who can’t get back to their pets before the work day is out. The full-service location also offers overnight in-home boarding for when you’re out of town – a cage-free environment that feels like home is a huge comfort to a lot of puppy owners, especially those with rescue pups. The best spa service at Cosmopawlitan is the Deluxe Pawdicure which includes nail trimming, paw pad hair removal, and paw pad moisturizing. It’s a puppy pedicure! My boy is notorious for Grinch feet so a service like this is the perfect monthly treatment to keep him comfy. Now to find a nail salon around the corner so we can both get pedicures at the same time…
PAWfect Spa
This Avenue and Dupont spa will treat your pup like a celebrity pooch. The stylists at this ritzy location consult with you before taking your dog to a partitioned room for a custom cut and a relaxing bath. Taking a cue from a popular treatment for the two-legged variety, PAWfect offers a Dead Sea Mud Scrub which will leave your pal’s hair shiny and smooth. Upon leaving the salon, all dogs are given big bows or bright bandanas to make them feel extra proud of their new style.
