The selection of Japanese restaurants in the city is a wide one. In fact, many Japanese restaurants caught the attention of the MICHELIN Guide last year. The chef at one of these restaurants is now venturing further into the culinary space, with plans to open five new establishments in The 6ix this year. Any guesses on who I’m talking about? Here’s a hint: The restaurant is in Yorkville.
About Masaki Saito
Chef Masaki Saito is the mastermind behind Sushi Masaki Saito. As a two-time two-star MICHELIN chef, he became the only one in Toronto to get two stars in MICHELIN’s 1st Toronto Guide last year. He is also the only chef who has two stars both in Toronto and New York.
The MICHELIN review for Sushi Masaki Saito his restaurant with two stars says, “Fish comes exclusively from Japan, and for the nigiri, assistants are quick to bring him his prized rice from Niigata prefecture, warm and tinged with his special blend of vinegars, after every round.”

This Yorkville establishment is as upscale as it gets, with a whopping price of $680 per head for dining. The upcoming five restaurants however are expected to be less expensive. The opening dates and menu details have yet to be revealed, so make sure to keep an eye out.
Sushi Masaki Saito is open Monday to Friday from 6 pm to 11 pm. Reservations for the restaurant can be made via Tock.
