The holiday spirit is upon us. With winter wonderland festivities come many city-wide plans and activations to attend, but also many road closures to accommodate them all. Whether you’re looking to go to a sports game or to one of the many Christmas-themed events across the city, it’s important to know the best way to get there. So, here’s our monthly guide with all of the TTC changes to be aware of in December.
What’s happening with the TTC this month
From December 4th to December 9th, the TTC’s 127 Davenport bus route will divert nightly, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. It will arrive at St George Station both ways via Dupont Street, Davenport Road and Bedford Road.
From December 4th to December 10th, the 501|503|504 streetcars will experience a route change as a result of watermain repairs along the TTC’s traditional route. For the same time frame, the 508 Lake Shore bus route will also change its route as a result of the repairs.

And, while its not a route change, the TTC is making changes in certain subway stations and, according to the website, implementing reduced speed zones. These come “as a safety precaution due to track condition as well as during preparation and restoration work related to track replacement during subway closures. Since trains will travel through those areas at a slower-than-normal speed, customers may experience longer travel times and we advise customers to give themselves extra time during their commute,” the alert reads. The following routes are impacted on Line 1:
- Northbound between St Andrew and Union stations
- Northbound between Wilson and Sheppard West stations
- Both ways between St George and Spadina stations
- Southbound between Sheppard-Yonge and York Mills stations
And, on Line 2, there’s a reduced speed zone heading eastbound between Kipling and Islington stations.
