There’s so much to do this weekend, from art exhibitions to holiday markets to sports and parties. As the weather changes, many of the activities (and their destinations) shift indoors and to venues that can hold big crowds for themed events, tons of which are dotted across the city. Getting there via public transit is an art, especially considering all of the road closures and service changes the city endures each week. So, if you need to know the best way to get to your party this weekend, read on to find out which TTC routes are experiencing changes this weekend.
These TTC routes will experience changes
Beginning earlier this week, the TTC’s weekday service to Cherry Beach ended as the warmer weather has officially left the city of Toronto (sigh). There will no longer be a direct route from Union Station to Cherry Beach.
In order to accommodate the Toronto Zoo’s Terra Lumina events, service will end later, at 9:20 p.m., at the Toronto Zoo. Beginning November 26, guests can take the 86 Scarborough bus and the connecting 85 Sheppard East from the Meadowvale loop and get on the shuttle bus.

In a rare TTC vehicle change, the 503 Kingston Road streetcar is now a bus route in order to accommodate overhead conversion on Kingston Road. This change is effective until March 2023.
Of course, the city and regular TTC riders should also plan for the fact that the King and Shaw intersection is expected to reopen to public transit in the coming weeks. The opening has been delayed until early December, with no date finalized, but this will definitely mean a change in the 504 King streetcar route. Right now, a lot of the 504 King streetcars do not reach as far as Exhibition Loop, but instead, turn around at either Fleet Street or Spadina Road.
It’s also worth noting that the TTC planned to extend the 501 Queen streetcar route from Roncesvalles to Dufferin, which would have been effective in October. Naturally, this decision came without much planning and, when the city realized it wouldn’t work, reverted back to the original route, leaving the TTC’s original 501 Queen route unchanged.
