As VFM’s signature fundraiser, RIPE pairs farm-to-table chefs and restaurants with local farmers and producers to bring guests an amazing evening of imaginative dishes using regionally-sourced ingredients.
This year’s event will take place on October 19th starting at 4pm to 8pm at The Roundhouse Community Centre in Yaletown. The main feast, hosted by Granville Island’s Edible Canada, will feature a family-style meal that’s guaranteed to have you making friends with your neighbour at the table. More than 10 different market farms and suppliers, meat producers, and prepared food artisans will be providing the goods. They’ll also be pairing up with renowned chefs and restaurants to create a feast for the senses that we’re already drooling over.
Returning to the RIPE line-up for 2014 are Vij’s Rangoli, Forage, and Graze — each paired with a farmer to create appetizers that’ll be featured during cocktail hour. Vij’s Rangoli will be working alongside Crisp Organics, Forage with Sole Food Street Farms, and Graze with Cropthorne Farm.
In addition to the various farm vendors, RIPE 2014 has a healthy dose of newbies — local breweries, distilleries, and wineries that’ll be on-hand to keep you satiated throughout the night. Sample the latest spirits courtesy of the Long Table Distillery and Odd Society Spirits. If a cold one’s more your style, you’ll love the fact that R&B Brewery will be pouring a signature RIPE keg for the event, and BC Wine Studio will present a selection of their Okanagan wines.
