Now that the weather is heating up nicely, we’re ready to don our two-pieces and make a beeline for the closest beach or pool. But (and we’re so embarrassed to share this) over the winter we didn’t keep up with our regular waxing schedule, and now we’re a tad woolly mammoth-esque. We need a wax job, STAT! (TMI…?)
Whether you’ll be sporting that new super-sassy, teeny-weeny bikini this summer, or just want to be fuzz-free (down there), waxing is one of the best ways to remove hair and keep it gone for several weeks. We’ve got the low-down on who in YVR to trust with your va-jay-jay, which kind of waxing to ask for, and some pre-waxing dos and don’ts.

The Lingo
Not a bikini waxing connoisseur? Not a problem. We’ve got the breakdown on the three most popular waxing options, just so you know what to ask for when you make that appointment.
– The classic bikini: Hair outside the panty line is removed – great for the novice waxer.
– The French bikini: The majority of hair in the bikini area is removed, except for a small “landing strip.”
– The Brazilian: Every single hair (in the bikini area) goes bye-bye… even between your bum cheeks.
Pre-Appointment Tips
We’ve got some great pre-waxing tips from the waxologists at Stripped Wax Bar that will ensure you get the most out of your service…
– Do have hair that is at least a quarter-inch long.
– Do take a warm shower and lightly exfoliate your skin. This will provide an easier exit of the hair follicles and ensure a smoother wax.
– Do take an ibuprofen 30-45 minutes prior to your service to reduce any potential pain.
– Do apply Take It Easy Numbing Cream 15 minutes prior to your waxing service to reduce any potential pain.
– Don’t engage in heavy exercise, swimming, or tanning prior to your waxing service.
– Don’t apply any heavy creams, gels or oils that may prevent the wax from adhering to the hair. Keep the service area clean and dry.
– Don’t drink alcohol before your service. Stimulants in the system can cause the skin to be extra sensitive.
