What better a way to celebrate women from around the world than by doing so at a networking event set to bring a veritable collection of the who’s who of Vancouver’s hospitality scene together at UVA Wine Bar for what’s been dubbed Guts and Glory: A Celebration of Hospitable Women.
With such a longstanding and rich history in Vancouver’s hospitality industry, we think this is definitely an event that ought to be on everyone’s radar in YVR, and it all goes down this Saturday, March 4th from 1pm until 4pm.

Women have a long, rich history in the hospitality industry, melding the perfect mix of maternal instinct and playfulness into Vancouver’s culinary scene be it through the bars they manage, the restaurants they run, or as heads of hospitality-related lines of products that are all the rage. The ladies are clearly (and increasingly) at the wheel when it comes to steering their ever-growing presence and reaching a higher level of distinction.
With so many of today’s highest and most important positions in the hospitality industry now held by femmes, women undeniably continue to prove themselves a powerful part of our social fabric. It is a portion of this local group of women who are behind the Guts and Glory gathering, wanting to pay kudos to women in the hospitality industry while also kick-starting a series of networking events specifically intended to motivate and encourage the next generation of women to aspire to even greater heights within the industry.
“We’re not only celebrating International Women’s Day at this event but championing those who inspire us,” says event organizer Lauren Mote, bar manager at UVA Wine Bar. “It’s time to make new friends, reconnect with old ones, and be inspired to achieve your own idea of greatness. It dovetails perfectly with the theme of International Women’s Day in 2014, which is ‘Inspiring Change’.”
