When it comes time to take a city break for a day (or weekend) for some quality R&R, our mind instantly takes us to the sprawling mountainside town of Whistler, home to Scandinave Spa. What awaits is a relaxing getaway that takes a mere hour and 30 minutes to get to.
A quick, picturesque cruise up the stunning Sea to Sky will land you at the doorstep of an outdoor paradise like no other. No, we’re not talking about the mountains but a sprawling health and wellness wonderland that will only cost you about $58.

Given that snow conditions have been, at best iffy this season, heading for an afternoon at Scandinave Spa in Whistler is the perfect solution if you’re looking to unplug in style.
You’ll start that journey pretty much in the parking lot as you pack up any stress and leave it in the backseat. Meander your way through an old growth forest for about 500 meters and you’ll find yourself at the entryway to the spa.
After a brief greeting and sign in process, grab a town and robe and head down to the lockers to ready yourself for Nordic style spa experience (and be sure to ditch the cell phone, you seriously don’t need it).
Surrounded by snowcapped mountains, crisp blue skies, fresh air and (we hope) sunshine, gear down for some serious chill time as you head into the steam room, dry and hot sauna, plunge pools and various heated pools over the course of an hour or so.

The day spa is just the beginning though and Scandinave boasts plenty of options for those seeking an extension of escapism in the form of a massage.
Post treatment, head back to one of the spas Solariums with your favorite book or magazine where you can veg out, or cozy up by the outdoor fireplace in a Muskoka chair and Zen out.
No visit is complete without a stop by the spa’s café or a light bite. Catered by local Ciao Thyme Bistro and Riverside Junction Café, nosh on rejuvenating light lunches, snacks, sandwiches and blended drinks.
Next stop: Happy Hour!
