Late last week we headed over to the west side to one of our favourite salons, Black2Blond, to celebrate their first anniversary, and we were in for a stylish pop up show from the La Biosthetique team.
First off, we’ve got to indulge in a few details about the sleek salon space. It’s like a slice of NYC has been plunked down in cozy little Kitsilano. Simple in design, Black2Blond is spaciously appointed, featuring about 10 strategically placed stations throughout the main floor with an esthetics area discreetly tucked up a few steps towards the back.

Facials and massage services are provided in one of several private rooms where you’re completely removed from any buzz of activity. We know, because we’ve been there and done that.
Crisp white and plenty of mirror and glass surfaces are the main décor staples throughout Black2Blond, keeping things clutter-free, minus a few lounge chairs available for guests awaiting service and display cases showcasing the full line of La Biosthetique products we’re fans of.
Guests at the anniversary party sipped sparkling wine and noshed on tray after tray of light bites before being beckoned to take a seat for a pop up beauty trend show featuring their latest hair and makeup looks for fall inspired by La Biosthetique Paris’ seasonal look-book.
Inspired by magic this season, La Biosthetique’s fall collection featured the perfect mix to suit all types. They showcased structure, colour, and texture, pulling individual looks together that still showed plenty of flexibility to transition from workday to nighttime play.

Artistic and Educational Director Marc Riese took us through a brief presentation that explained the company’s seasonal source of inspiration – mainly European minimalist design and architecture – before models got started strutting their way down the runway.
They also presented their new (and very playful) La Biosthetique Pop Art Collection. Drawing on avant-garde and rather high-octane styles, stylists wove bold colours together with unusual shaping, mixing a cool sense of creativity together in a refreshing way.
These looks were definite showstoppers drawing on pop art, design, and noteworthy artistic influences courtesy of Andy Warhol.
The next time you’re on the hunt for some style-savvy inspiration, we recommend you head to Black2Blond and ask the talented team to help you boost your look.
