We hate to say it, but summer is slowly coming to an end (well, officially not until September 22nd if you want to be celestial about it). Labour Day typically marks the end to that time of the year when it’s okay to escape the office a bit on the early side… With that in mind, don’t let YVR’s summer offerings escape you. Be sure to check out a few of the following things before the season wraps up…
Hit Up The Beach
Let’s start with paying a visit to one of the city’s many stunning waterfront locales… we’re talking about hitting up the beach. If you haven’t already taken the chance to visit Kitsilano, Jericho, Locarno, Third, Sunset or Second Beach, well, you must live in a cave. Take advantage of the last week or so of summer and get out and explore them! Bonus points for making it out to Third Beach to partake in the Tuesday evening Drum Circle.

Bard On The Beach
Speaking of beaches, Bard On The Beach is on our list of must-dos and wraps up in September. Who wouldn’t want to score a little cultural fix and live entertainment with Shakespeare’s best? Tickets are reasonably priced, and it’s the perfect option for a last-minute date night guaranteed to impress.
PNE
Channel your inner kid and make your way out to the PNE for the final stretch of summer. You’ll have fun screaming like a girl as you board the wood roller coaster, try your stamina at Drop Zone or Atmosfear, or venture through the Haunted House. For big kids, be sure to stick around for one of the last remaining live shows at their Summer Night Concerts.
Fresh Air Cinemas
Catch some cinema under the stars before those inflatable screens are packed up and put away for the season. Fresh Air Cinemas have taken over various grassy, waterfront parks around the city with weekday and weekend screenings of classic flicks. It’s first come, first serve seating (with VIP seating available for a small fee) and you’ve only got a few left to chose from.

International Summer Night Market
If you haven’t yet made your way out to one of the city’s many night markets, now is a great time to go. A summer in the city isn’t complete without a trip out to Richmond to check out one of several night markets that set up shop every weekend. First off, make your way to the International Summer Night Market for a cultural and culinary fix. Don’t get too overwhelmed with the endless offerings… you’ll want to save room for the massive Richmond Night Market located nearby. Both markets have hundreds of vendors on hand, live music, entertainment, and more.
Make The Most Out Of The Patios
Summer is all about hitting up the patios around town. We wrote about it last week here and earlier this summer here. Basically, you ought to relish the remaining rays and park it with pals on one of the many we’ve listed… and then some.
