We’ve been watching the progress at 4288 Main Street for a while now and were pleased to see signs that Meet on Main, the vegan/veg-friendly spot had finally (officially) opened in the Riley Park hood late last week.
The ownership (who have roots in a handful of well known watering holes around town such as Urban Well, New Bohemian and Balthazar) has seemingly spared no expense in design. The space has been given a complete transformation – ridding it of the former stark and boring feel. We’re happy to report that you’ll feel right at home with their new laid-back (yet playful) industrial look featuring bright accents throughout.

A large bar runs the length of the room as well as along the front providing ample vantage points for scene and people watching you’ll love once you plunk down with a cocktail.
Our picks that have already garnered great reviews from guests: the vegan wines (or ‘hot chiggin’ things) are actually pretty darn tasty and just the right texture to make you think it’s the real thing.
Be sure to order the chili cauliflower and corn fritters with side of spicy sauce. Save room for the kale and romaine Caesar and creamy potato salad (all well priced from $5 to $8).
Onion rings are definitely a must-order on the list (and it helps that they’re served with an ample serving of house cut fries). Oh, and speaking of fries – Meet on Main has that category pretty well covered too with a selection of six different styles of toppings.

Meet on Main isn’t all about the green goods though and they are definitely looking to position themselves and their menu as having something for everyone. The opening menu features a selection of about four different (and tantalizingly good) burgers on its menu to quench any need you may have.
But if you are watching what you eat, you’ll find plenty of healthy goods by the bowlful. They’ve got pretty much every base covered with smoked tofu, toasted coconut and an authentic almond nut satay sauce (The Lovey) or go for The Harvest (with grilled veggies, Italian Field Roast sausage and quinoa) or The Picnic (potato salad tossed with apple slaw, baked bean chili and BBQ drizzle –yum!).
